    David Halloran’s Crystal Mistress turkey call produced sounds seductive enough so that judges at the Grand National Hunting Call Competition found it to be the best.
    Halloran of Great Valley, N.Y. became the youngest call maker ever to win the prestigious D.D. Adams Award for the best pot call. He’s only 23-years-old.
    But his victories weren’t limited to his newest crystal call, Halloran also won first place slate call and his glass call took fourth place at the National Wild Turkey Federation annual convention in Nashville . A weekend earlier Halloran entered seven calls in the Georgia Wildlife Federation Callmakers Contest in Perry. Ga. and took home seven ribbons including Best of Show, Best of Category pot call, first place glass call and first place short boxcall.
     “It’s been a knockout year for my calls and I look forward to getting out in the woods,” Halloran said.
    The Crystal Mistress is made of laminated soft maple and cedar. It is designed to have a high-pitch nasally front end leading into a barking raspy yelp, Halloran said. The winning call sold at live auction for $700 as collectors clamored over it.
    “The calls may have wreaked havoc in the competitions this year, but the real devastation will occur in turkey season when countless customers take the calls to the woods,” Halloran added.

Another Best of Show For David Halloran Turkey Calls

David entered the GWF's call makers competition during their Perry, GA Great Outdoor Show February 12-14th. Among calls from the best call makers in the country the double glass call featured in a dymondwood pot took home Best of Show. The double glass also took home first place in  This is the second best of show for David's calls at the GWF event. The Parquet Checkered Short Box also took a first place in the short box category. All the calls entered took home awards the other notable wins taken by the 5 other calls he entered included second place finishes for the aluminum and slate calls as well as third place finishes for the Crystal Mistress, the aluminum and slate pot calls.

Turkey and Turkey Hunting Grand Slam Call Competition

Congratulations to David Halloran as a winner in Turkey and Turkey Hunting Magazine's 2009 Grand Slam Turkey Call Competition. The winners were announced in the just released winter edition of the magazine. David's calls took home not just one but two first place awards. The box call, a purple heart and cedar checkered box call, turned both the judges ears and eyes. The flashy call featured spalted maple end detailing and carried a sound that rivaled no other. The Cacklin' Crystal Pot Call took home top awards for the working friction category. Always a customer favorite, this call was paired with dymondwood and ebony strikers for the contest. The sharp rasp of this call won the judges over and gave David a win in both working call categories of the contest. The competition was stiff and David was honored with the win. When asked about the winning calls David said "They are both calls I would put in my vest. The real wins will come this spring in the woods." For his achievements Turkey and Turkey Hunting featured David in an article of the winter issue. Congratulations to all the 2009 Grand Slam Call Contest winners. On the Air with The Outdoor Show

Saturday, March 7th, David made an appearance on the Outdoor Show, an outdoor talk radio show out of Jacksonville Florida. Invited by the show's hosts, Jeff Lageman, Kevin Faver and Kirk Waltz, David spent much of the hour or so on the air speaking about his calls and basic turkey hunting tactics. A Milestone Year for David Halloran Turkey Calls

This year marks the 10th year of David Halloran Turkey Calls. The last ten years have been filled with hard work and much success for David Halloran. David has worked to create calls which have become some of the most sought after in the industry. Today David's calls take home top awards in competition and always bring in the tough gobbler, a true test of the call. To commemorate the 10th anniversary David designed and built a limited edition Poplar and Ebony Box call. Each call is laser engraved and numbered 1 through 50. David Halloran Sponsors Wheelin' Sportsman's Event

The Virginia State Forest Service hosted a NWTF Wheelin' Sportsman's Event in late November 2008. Six hunters where hosted for the 2 day hunt and many had family members accompany them while at camp. David donated several turkey calls to the event, several hunters/family members received them during the event. Special thanks to the NWTF and the Virginia Wheelin' Sportsman's program for a job well done.

First Place Finish for David Halloran Turkey Calls

The 2008 National Wild Turkey Federation Grand National Call Competition proved to be the best yet for David Halloran Turkey Calls. David's slate call featuring a hand turned striker wowed the judges and earned the call maker his first ever blue ribbon from the NWTF Grand National Call Competition. Several other calls took home ribbons including the other slate pot call entry, a glass pot call and an aluminum pot call. A combination of the 1st Place Award and a growing reputation has quickly made David Halloran's pot calls some of the most recognized and respected calls on the market.

2008 Starts Off Right

    Following last year's impressive showing, expectations are high for David Halloran Turkey Calls in 2008. The season opened up on February 9th at the Georgia State Call Competition, held in Perry, Georgia. Competition was tough but the aluminum, slate and glass pot calls all took home ribbons. The glass pot call took top honors as the Best of Category winner in the pot call division. A second glass call took the runner-up while the aluminum and slate both earned third place finishes. So far, 2008 is looking to be another great year for David Halloran Turkey Calls. Look for us at the upcoming NWTF Grand National Call Competition held in Atlanta, Georgia on February 21st-24th.
